Ashton man handed driving ban

A man from Ashton was more than twice over the legal drink drive limit when stopped in the town.

Tameside magistrates heard that Graham Dilkes, of Kenyon Street, was stopped on Margaret Street on 29 September.

The 51-year-old was found to have 94 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

He was banned from the road for two years, plus given a 10-week curfew order, meaning he must remain at his address between the hours of 9pm and 6am each night for the duration of the order.

Magistrates instructed him to pay £85 court costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

The driving disqualification can be reduced by some six months if a driving course is successfully completed.
