Food parcels will be available to families at the 4C community centre on August 25.
Between 12pm and 2pm, any family can go to the Ashton-under-Lyne centre and receive their parcel. They can also stop for a hot drink, biscuit and a packed lunch for kids, all served on the day.
Each food parcel contains meal essentials, including cereal, milk, pasta, noodles and sauce.
Feedo Needo, the charity behind the event, deliver food to the homeless in Piccadilly Gardens. Their expansion into Tameside is part of an effort to reach more people in need.
Project Coordinator at Feedo Needo, Becky Hargreaves, added: “Lots of people feel they have to justify or explain why they need food parcels. We don’t want people to feel that way coming to the centre.”
If anyone wants to donate items for the parcels or volunteer on the day, they can get in touch at the charity’s website https://www.feedoneedo.org.uk/become-volunteer.html
The ‘uniform swap shop’ also continues at the 4C community centre. In July, parents were invited to bring their children’s old uniform to the building and take what they need from a donation box.
Those collecting food parcels are encouraged to use the service. Read more about it here https://www.questmedianetwork.co.uk/news/tameside-reporter/uniform-swap-shop-at-ashton-community-centre/
