Ashton charity puts men's mental health in focus

Ashton's Anthony Seddon Fund organised only its second 'Men's Mental Health Conference' recently.

A whole host of speakers and advice providers attended on the day, staged at Dukinfield Town Hall.

There were a plethora of stalls and talks held by different local mental health charities.

Among the inspirational speakers sharing their stories was Mike Palmer from the charity ‘3 Dads Walking’.

Civic Mayor of Tameside Cllr Tafheen Shariff attended and said: “There are numerous organisations and lots of support out there across Tameside and I am taken aback by just seeing how much help is available regarding mental health.

“I feel men need to address any issues they are facing and get the help they need. This is why events like this one are so important, so people know what’s available in the community and this event has helped highlight the issues that so many people face. It’s important that events like this continue and men do seek help as well as others.”

Among the many groups available were Tameside’s Mind, Healthwatch Tameside, Samaritans, Dad Matters and The Shed, with the Anthony Seddon Fund thanking everyone for their support.
