Campaigners gathered outside the site over the weekend following the circulation of undercover footage and allegations shared widely on social media relating to animal welfare practices.
Not Really Here Media ( Tameside Reporter, Tameside Radio, Glossop Chronicle and The Oldham Reporter) has approached Hartshead Meats Ltd for comment but, at the time of posting, no response has been received.
We have also contacted the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the Food Standards Agency, and Tameside Council’s Public Protection and Environmental Services teams seeking clarification on whether any investigation or enforcement action is taking place.
No direct response to our information requests has yet been received.
A peaceful protest took place outside the Mossley site, with demonstrators calling for transparency and answers regarding the allegations being circulated online.
