Ashton MP Angela Rayner joined the festivities as staff and residents of Ashton Pioneer Homes celebrated its 25th birthday.
The social housing provider took control of around 1000 homes from Tameside Council in 1999 and used £5 million of EU funding to invest in two sites – Richmond Park and West Park.
Properties deemed no longer fit for purpose were demolished, others were refurbished and 65 family homes were built on the cleared site.
Angela, who is now Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, said: “Since I was elected as MP in 2015, I have worked closely with the team at Ashton Pioneer Homes to make sure they are looking after their tenants and creating communities that my constituents can be proud of.
“It was great to celebrate this landmark anniversary with staff and tenants. The sun shone as we enjoyed cake, ice cream and mocktails. Well done to the APH team for organising such a successful event!”
