Weekend Review: East Cheshire Harriers

Here's what happened at East Cheshire Harriers over the weekend.

The latest Manchester Area Cross Country was held at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead. A total of 40 athletes defied the wintry conditions with many excellent performances from East Cheshire Harriers boys and girls.

The under 11 boys team finished 6th with Alfie Manser 12th, Marshall Fleet 24th, Finlay Partington 32nd and Lucas Rhodes 46th.

The under 11 girls were eighth team with Ava Royle 26th, Anna Rooke 34th, Harriet Byrnes 36th and Meadow Wright 40th.

The under 13 boys were fourth with Bobby Burton 6th, Oliver Bentley 21st , Tim Elgar 27th, Alfie Buddy 28th, Cole Wright 36th and 47th Joe Harney.  The under 13 girls were sixth with Emily Bowker again doing so well to finish second, Maria Rooke 28th, Alice Cunningham 31st , Kayla Corbett 34th and Harriann Fleet 48th.  

The under 15 girls were fourth with another great run from Matilda Byrnes finishing 3rd, May Mannion 14th and Aliesha Smith 22nd. The under 17 ladies were well represented by Megan Lewis 4th and Rose Barlow 10th.  In a very high class ladies race Hayley Simpson was 8th and there were other good runs on an extended over distance course by Cath Daley 20th L40. Michelle Vaughan 3rd L45, and Karen Fleming 11th L45. In the Senior Men’s race Liam Browne was 30th and James Harshorne 66th.

Darren Smith was 18th M40. Tim Greenald was 8th M45. Ian Fraser 6th M50 and Derek Hughes was 13th M55.
