United View: Reds submit improved Mbeumo bid

It’s still relatively early in the window, however, Manchester United are still attempting to make moves, with the club submitting a new offer for Bryan Mbeumo, as well as exploring potential suitors for some of their out-of-favour squad members.

It was reported on Monday evening that United had submitted a second bid for Bryan Mbeumo above £60million.

The Reds had already proposed an initial £45million fee plus add-ons, but Brentford wanted more up front.

The Cameroon international has already made it clear to his current club that he wants to join United, with the hold-up being the structure of the deal, despite reports of interest from Tottenham, who had just appointed his former manager, Thomas Frank.

With United having difficulty identifying a striker, bringing in Mbeumo’s arrival could ease the burden up front next season.

However, the Reds will also need to start seeing some outgoings if they are to bring in any new faces.

Despite a lack of action going in the opposite direction, it is important to remember how early into the summer transfer window we are.

With many clubs choosing to avoid making moves before June 30th – the end of the accounting period for each league season.

That being said, United can expect to see the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho all depart from the club this summer.

Garnacho wants to stay within the Premier League, leaving a not-so-cryptic post on his Instagram, sporting an Aston Villa shirt with Rashford printed on the back.

Even though Ruben Amorim has made it clear to the Argentinian international that he needs to find a new club, wearing another English team’s jersey whilst under contract just seems ill-advised.

Rashford himself is hoping for a move to Barcelona, following the end of his loan at Villa, with the forward hoping to earn his spot back in the England set-up for the World Cup in 2026.

Meanwhile, Sancho is attracting interest from Italy and potentially Turkish side, Fenerbahçe, both of which would suit Sancho’s skillset in a league with less demand regarding physicality; however, as with the other two aforementioned names, nothing official has been submitted.

Hopefully, once July arrives and players start to arrive back for pre-season, we can start to see more movement in the transfer window.

Although if Mbeumo and Cunha are Manchester United players by then, it can be considered a very promising start to the summer.
