Two return for Belle Vue Colts

Belle Vue have kicked off team building for their 2021 National Development League side by bringing back fan favourite Paul Bowen and Ben Woodhull.

The two were originally set to star for the Cool Running Colts last year before the coronavirus pandemic eventually put paid to all league racing in the UK.

Bowen in particular is relishing the opportunity to return to the National Speedway Stadium after a lengthy absence

He said: “I couldn’t be happier to have another chance to race for Belle Vue. I missed out in 2019 as a result of a shoulder injury, then Covid came along and wiped out the 2020 season.

“But everyone has been very supportive of me, they are right behind me and are rooting for me to be successful and the fans are brilliant as well.

“You don’t feel pressured to perform at a place like Belle Vue, you’re encouraged to perform and that is why this will always be the club for me.

“If there’s one thing I would like to achieve in 2021 I would like to do a Heat 15, but not as a token gesture. I want to feel I’ve earned it and I deserve to be there.”

Woodhull is also delighted to be back with the Manchester outfit and is looking forward to continuing to build on his experience.

He said: “I’m really happy to be back. Belle Vue is a great track; the people are fantastic, and I think it’s been really good for my personal and professional development.

“It was a shame we didn’t get a National League season last year. I’d been spending a lot of time working on my fitness but that’s something I have brought forward to 2021.

“There was a lot of uncertainty regarding this season so when I got the call, I was delighted. I’m hoping to make a big impression this season and establish myself in the main body of the team.

“Previous years have been hit and miss but I think a lot of those early teething troubles are behind me now and I’m ready to step up my game.”

The Cool Running Colts will announce two more members of their new-look Class of 2021 next week so be sure to stay tuned to our website and social media for further updates.
