Town boost promotion hopes

Denton Town Football Club maintained their promotion hopes on Tuesday night with a 2-0 victory against Partington Village in the Cheshire Football League, League One.

Phill Cooper and Daz Green's side took the lead in the 21st minute thanks to Caylem Bateson's first goal for the club. Town had a chance to double their lead from the penalty spot shortly into the second half, but Jordan Bove put his effort wide of the target.

However, Bove's miss mattered little as Town sealed the three points in the final ten minutes thanks to Tom Beswick.

Having claimed back-to-back victories since re-starting the league last weekend, Town are now third in the table and four points below leaders Knowsley South, although the table-toppers have a game in hand.

Town are back in action at Whittle's Park this Saturday with a clash against struggling Moore United, who have picked up just two points from seven fixtures.
