Tour of Tameside goes virtual

The Running Bee Foundation is launching the Virtual Tour of Tameside, in replacement of this year’s four day running challenge.

Due to the adverse effects of Covid-19, the foundation has had to regrettably postpone the 2020 Tour of Tameside but it will return on 10th – 13th June 2021. Instead the foundation is inviting runners to take part in its virtual alternative, whether they complete the whole tour or just individual stages.

Runners are asked to complete to following distances;

STAGE 1 X-TRAIL - 10K

STAGE 2 Hell on the Fell -  6 miles

STAGE 3 NHS Hero’s Half Marathon, 13.1 miles

STAGE 4 Hyde 7 – 7 miles

Completing the full tour would be a total of 32 miles (approx.)

Entries for The virtual Tour of Tameside will be available to purchase on Sunday 3rd  May and runners will have from then until Sunday 14th June (due to be the final day of the 2020 Tour of Tameside) to complete their chosen distance. On completion, runners should upload proof of their run via Active Endurance and all will receive a Virtual Tour of Tameside medal.

Cost of the Virtual Tour of Tameside is £10.00 per entry (whether choosing to run the full or stages of the tour) and is available to purchase here >>> https://www.runningbeefoundation.co.uk/events-calendar/

The foundation is asking all participants who take on the Virtual Tour of Tameside to abide by the Government, Tameside Council’s and NHS guidelines and keep their social distance from others, especially when choosing to exercise  outdoors (always keeping 2 metre distance) and, ensure to wash your hands for 20 seconds as soon as you complete your exercise. More information can be found here >>> https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

Profits from all entries will be made available via grant applications for charities, community groups and projects that focus on health and wellbeing and those that help in the fight to reduce childhood obesity across Tameside.

The Running Bee Foundation was founded and is supported by Sports Tours International. The Foundation will provide grants from the profits raised from all its North West events to help to promote health and wellbeing and the fight to reduce childhood obesity.
