Tintwistle Athletic hosting summer football camps

Tintwistle Athletic are hosting a number of summer football camps, taking place over the next few months, starting in April.

The camps are open to boys and girls aged between four and eleven and are open to kids of any skill level. They have been going for a few years now and were originally set up to give children something fun and exciting to do during the school holidays.

Nathan Neequaye, one of the organisers, went into more detail about the motivation for setting up the camps, “It was just to make sure all the children had an opportunity to do stuff in the holidays because kids get a lot of time off and it can be boring”. “It gives them an opportunity to get active rather than staying at home playing computer games”.

“It also helps parents out, a lot of them work and this provides them with childcare throughout the day as well so it’s a win-win”.

According to Nathan, as well as benefitting the children, the programme also benefits the club, “A lot of the managers from the different age groups at Tintwistle recommend the camps and say how good they are, because you can see the skills they’ve learnt in the holiday camps transferring into their matches as well”.

The camps run from 9:30am until 3:30pm and are at a cost of £17 for the day, or £45 for three days, and as mentioned, they start in April and run through to August.
