Hyde United have secured the signing of talented forward Lewis Rawsthorn, who joins on loan from National League North side Radcliffe.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Tameside rivals Stalybridge Celtic, where he netted 13 times in 28 appearances, helping the club reach the final of the Cheshire Senior Cup.

Rawsthorn also had a stellar 2023/24 campaign, scoring 31 goals for North West Counties side Atherton LR.

The Tigers have also made two more signings in forward areas with both Nyal Bell and Mwiya Malumo joining up with Nick Spooner’s squad.

Bell is back at Hyde after a lengthy spell out with injury, last playing for the club back in the 2023/24 campaign.

The 28-year-old was a key figure in Stockport County’s 2018/19 title winning side, scoring 9 goals in 35 appearances as The Hatters were crowned National League North champions.

Malumo joins from North East Counties side Wakefield FC, where he spent the second half of last season after leaving NPL East club Emley AFC.

The former Zambia youth international has Step 3 experience, having spent time at FC United of Manchester and Radcliffe among others.

Elsewhere, Spooner’s side have also strengthened in midfield with the arrivals of Callum Stringer and Taylor Dyson.

Stringer spent last season with NPL West side Congleton Town and has previously featured for Cobh Ramblers in the Irish top flight, while Dyson has played over in the US for the past four seasons, most recently for BGSU Falcons.
