Tennis club is a big hit

Players at Glossop Tennis Club are celebrating after being allowed back on the court.

The players had to hang up their racquets during the latest lockdown, but thanks to the easing of restrictions they are allowed to practise once again.

One member of the Pyegrove Road club said: “It’s thrilling to be back on court and hitting those balls again.

“I’ve missed my friends in the coaching group so much and it’s wonderful to be back with them.

“We have all become good friends through the coaching on and off the court.”

Chairman Marcus Gill said: “I’ve spoken to a lot of the juniors, their parents and the adults in coaching and they are all so pleased to be back with us at Glossop Tennis Club, playing and learning the game that they love and being around their friends again.”

Marcus also spoke of the club’s new coach Dan Stickland, saying: “I always ask for feedback from all involved, especially when we bring a new coach in, and, without exception, everyone I have spoken to think Dan is great with them and they are all looking forward to a summer of coaching under his wing.

“As a chairman I couldn’t ask for a better response and Dan is also a pleasure to work with for me.”

Glossop Tennis Club has group coaching sessions for children starting from age four all the way up to adults and the sessions are held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-9.30pm.
