Tameside return to winning ways

Premier One: Tameside NC 58-44 Weston Park Blades

Tameside Netball Club returned to winning ways in the Premier League One with a 58-44 victory over Weston Park Blades at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The hosts entered the game on the back of a narrow defeat at Academy last week but swept off the cobwebs to put in an assured performance and claim a valuable victory.

There was little between the sides heading into the fixture, with Tameside sitting in sixth position and Blades in seventh. However, the visitors can consider themselves unlucky this season after being deducted three points for fielding an unregistered player earlier in the campaign.

Tameside return to action next Sunday with a trip to local rivals Oldham, who are on course to retain their Premier One title for another season. They returned from Grangetown this afternoon with a 70-38 victory.

In player news, Tameside's Hannah Williams featured for Vitality Super League side Loughborough Lightning in a pre-season clash against Wasps on Saturday. Lightning edged their way to a 55-52 win.

The league itself begins on 29th February.
