A dance and cheer academy in Tameside will be jetting off to Florida later this month for this year’s Nfinity Finals tournament.
Tycoons Allstars will be travelling to Orlando in late April ahead of the event, which begins on May 2.
45 athletes, spread across seven teams, will be flying out to represent the Stalybridge based club, with five teams competing in the hip-hop category and two in the cheer category.
The club will be looking to add to its rich history, having been the first team from the UK to come away as Grand Champions at the NDA Championships in Daytona back in 2016.
Tycoons Allstars have competed in the US every year since, but this year sees them enter a brand-new competition.
“This year we’ve decided to go down a different route,” club owner Vanessa Murphy-Wood told The Reporter ahead of the event.
“We’ve done the same competition for years now, so we wanted a different challenge, and it also opened up opportunities for some of our younger athletes.
“We’ve entered the Nfinity Finals this time around and we’re so excited.
“The production of the competition looks incredible, and it’s going to be a completely different experience for all of our athletes and coaches.”
The club go into the Nfinity Finals in good form, with all of the US bound teams picking up first place at the Dream Extreme All Star Cheerleading and Dance Championships in Birmingham back in March.
A good mix of athletes will be travelling across the pond, with ages ranging from 8 to 35.
As well as this, the teams include both male and female athletes:
“We’ve found that a lot of boys are coming through the doors this season, which is really nice to see,” Vanessa told The Reporter.
“I think TikTok has helped to bring that on- it’s seen as cool to be a guy who dances now, which I just love.”
Vanessa took over the day to day running of the club back in July when her mother Jane – who founded the club in 2007 – stepped down.
Since then, she has taken the club from strength to strength, building on its strong foundations, and is understandably pleased with the role she has played:
“I’m so proud,” the 30-year-old told The Reporter.
“All our athletes are homegrown, and we’ve trained them from the ground up.
“To see how far they’ve come and know that I’ve been a big part of their journey right from the very start, I can’t even explain the feeling.
“I still feel just as proud when the little ones learn a forward roll as I do when the adults learn elite skills such as full twists.
“We’re like a little tiny family.”
The club have already managed to secure a main sponsor for America, but are always on the lookout for new opportunities.

The club are also on the lookout for new members, and will be hosting tryouts in June, for new athletes to showcase their skills.
