Tameside coaches become National Champions

Two futsal coaches from Tameside have become National Champions.

Oscar Lucas (from Mossley) and Kai Lawless (now living in Gorton) both coach for Tameside Futsal provider Sala Futsal Club and play for Bolton Futsal Club, who were crowned National Champions on Sunday 1st June.

Bolton Futsal Club and Manchester Futsal Club met in the FA National Futsal Series Tier 1 grand final at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester on Sunday, with Bolton winning 2-0 .

The win crowned them National Champions and takes Bolton into the UEFA Futsal Champions League qualifiers in  August.

The pair coach for Sala Futsal Club, who currently run sessions at Fairfield High School, Droylsden, and Ashton Sixth Form College coaching children aged 6-16.

Oscar Lucas commented: “It’s been an amazing season for us, and to become National Champions is fantastic for the sport in the North. 

“We now enter UEFA Futsal Champions league qualifying in August and look forward to playing other futsal teams in Europe.”

Both Oscar & Kai grew up playing futsal with Sala Futsal Club from age 9, and enjoy giving something back by helping develop the next generation of football and futsal players through Sala’s unique coaching program working with boys & girls aged 6-16 .
