Tameside athletes impress in the US

A dance and cheer academy from Tameside have impressed on the world stage, returning from their trip to the US with an abundance of silverware.

Tycoons Allstars recently attended this year’s Nfinity Finals tournament in Florida, with all seven of the club’s teams coming away with medals.

The Stalybridge-based club picked up six first place titles, one second place title and one Grand Champions title, for the highest score in the competition.

As well as this, one of the club’s cheer teams managed to ‘hit zero’, which is when a routine is executed perfectly, with no falls or errors.

This superb achievement has added to the club’s rich history, having been the first team from the UK to come away as Grand Champions at the NDA Championships in Daytona back in 2016.

Following the triumph, Tycoons Allstars’ owner, Vanessa Murphy-Wood told the Reporter: “It couldn’t have gone any better, it was such an amazing experience.

“It was always our goal to go and win but I think we even outdid our own expectations.

“For a little tiny team in Tameside to do so well on a global stage is just amazing, and I hope we’ve done everyone proud.

“This means so much to our athletes, they’ve got their reward for all their hard work.”

For now, the regular season is over, but the club are hosting tryouts next month ahead of the new campaign.
