Tameside and Oldham net top results

Tameside Netball Club and Oldham Netball Club maintained their unbeaten starts to the season at the weekend.

Tameside's Premier One squad built on their opening day victory at Grangetown with a 64-41 win against Cumberland, while Oldham followed up their victory against Leeds Athletic with a 47-42 win at Academy.

The results leave the squad's second and third in the table respectively, level on 10 points.

Tameside return to action on Sunday at Turnford, while Oldham host Hucclecote.

In other news, Tameside held a BBQ presentation evening in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on Saturday night.

The Jean Beresford award was given to vice-chairman Jane Chisnall. Gabriella Lavorini was awarded the Kath Eddlestone award, while the Special Team award was given to the Under 14s. Head coach Paul Harper also scooped the Unsung Hero award at the Pride of Tameside Sports Awards.
