Take part in the Schofield Fitness Tameside 10k this summer

Last year's Schofield Fitness Tameside 10k.

The second ever Schofield Fitness Tameside 10k is set to take place next month, and you are invited to come on down and get involved.

2022’s inaugural event was a huge success, with members from across the community gathering to enjoy the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle.

Now, runners in Tameside are being asked to look forward to June 4, when the race returns.

Charlie Schofield, founder of the event, hopes to see as many people as possible, no matter their ability level.

“This event is for everyone, from the novice to the seasoned athlete. Walk, jog or run, set yourself a challenge and celebrate with us at the finish line,” he said.

Having lived a successful career as an athlete, Charlie knows just how important it is to have goals to strive for.

“I’ve always had the luxury of training towards a goal, and that has kept me in the gym and kept me focused.

“Then, I retired from boxing last year and took my foot off the gas with training, as suddenly my goal had gone.

“So, I thought if I can get this event off the ground then I can give myself and the community something to train towards.

“That was definitely the case last year, and everyone at Ultimate Fitness in Stalybridge where I train was buzzing with excitement,” Charlie explained.

His aim is to get as many members of the community moving as possible, regardless of their exercise history or ability level.

The Schofield Fitness Tameside 10k is truly for all, with a welcoming atmosphere for everyone to get involved.

This year, the event has partnered with Cancer Research to raise as much money as possible for the touching cause.

But Charlie is still encouraging everyone to raise money for causes that mean most to them, as a source of extra motivation.

With great numbers at last year’s event, 2023 is set to be even bigger and better.

Entries to the Schofield Fitness Tameside 10k cost just £30 and include a Schofield Fitness t-shirt, participant medal and training plan.

The event starts at Ultimate Fitness in Stalybridge and participants are asked to arrive at 9:30am for a 10am start.
