Swim raises £1600 for charity

Waterloo and Taunton Conservative Club and Ashton Golf Club member, Geoff Glover, has completed a 2 mile swim of Lake Windermere in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

Geoff started open water swimming back in 2014, completing 14 swims of varying distance in different lakes for lots of charities.

This year’s charity was chosen to support several friends who have been affected by the disease.

The swim almost didn’t happen though, as on the day, Geoff’s partner Rosie’s car broke down on route to Windermere, meaning Geoff had to race in a taxi the rest of the way to be able to enter the swim on time.

Club Chairman from Waterloo Conservative Club, Leon Tamcken said, “We are all so proud of Geoff’s achievements, and also so grateful to everyone at our club and Ashton Golf Club for sponsoring Geoff, raising over £1,600 for this worthwhile charity.”
