Superstar Thomas edges closer to championship win

Round 3 of the Total Karting Zero winter championship took place at Whilton Mill on Saturday as Thomas Rathbone narrowed the championship gap in pursuit to become a double champion.

Starting 2nd on the grid for the heat race Thomas led by turn 1 ahead of championship leader Ethan and it was a lead that he held until the later stages of the race when he became comprised by back markers and dropped back finishing 3rd.

For the final, now starting 3rd, Thomas dropped to 4th off the line as the lead group broke away from the rest of the field. As Thomas made a move into 3rd, the lead also changed as Ethan (1st) and William (2nd) moved past the back markers with Ethan this time being compromised and slipping down to 4th.

William held the lead with Thomas chasing him down to the finish line, whilst Ahriv finished 3rd and Ethan 4th. Thomas also took the crucial fastest lap meaning that at the end of the day Ethan’s lead over Thomas is reduced to just 6 points with 2 rounds to go.
