Stokes signs

Curzon Ashton have landed experienced defender Chris Stokes, who joins from National League North new boys AFC Fylde.

The 34-year-old moves in the opposite direction to former Nash boss Craig Mahon, having made six National League appearances for The Coasters last season.

The veteran centre-half has a plethora of football league experience, having made over 200 appearances across League One and Two for various clubs such as Coventry City, Forest Green Rovers, and Bury.

The former Bolton Wanderers man has also played in the top flight of Scottish football, featuring 19 times for Kilmarnock during the 2021/22 campaign.

Following his signing, Stokes commented:

“I’m delighted to sign for the club, after speaking to the manager on the phone at the start of last week we had a real positive conversation, things moved really quickly and I’m delighted it was all sorted in a few days.

“It was great to meet the boys and staff last week and I can’t wait to get going in the season ahead.”
