Stalybridge Celtic has recently announced the appointments of Shaun Bishop and Taran Dhamrait to newly created roles at the club, as part of a restructuring process that will include the introduction of a new executive committee.

The newly formed executive committee will support a slimmed down formal board of directors with the running of the football club, with each committee member assigned an area of focus to lead and progress.

A source at the club said, “Shaun will join the executive committee and be responsible for matchday experience and will look to help develop a first class matchday experience for supporters, as well as providing a key link between the club and Supporters Association, where he is their chairman.”

Shaun also operates the popular Celtic Bier Hut situated inside Bower Fold and runs the fantastic Ol’s Bier & More in Stalybridge. He is a key figure within the Celtic community and will bring a wealth of skills to the club.

A source from the club also said, “Taran will step up from his current role to join the executive committee with responsibility for media and communications at the club, seeking to promote the club in a professional and attractive way.”

Taran first joined the club in May 2019 as the club’s media officer and has helped to lead a progressive and creative media team with the club’s media and communications output growing each year.

New joint majority shareholder Nigel Jones commented: “Bringing Shaun onboard is a key appointment for the club and one I am delighted we are taking. It’s an important first step in helping us to achieve our aim of working closely with our supporters and developing their experiences as supporters of our club. I’m really pleased Shaun has accepted our offer to join our new committee structure and look forward to working with him going forward.”

“I’ve been genuinely impressed by Taran’s professionalism, work ethic and skills since we arrived at the club. I look forward to tapping into his energy and vibrancy as we take the club on to its new phase, in which more modern communications and an increasing use of technology will form a key part going forward.”

Shaun also commented, “This role was one of the first things mentioned during my first chat with Nigel and Paul. They see having a supporter on the board as one of the key ways to progress the club, they want to work closely with supporters and the Supporters Association and they’re keen to hear our ideas”.

“Our first chat was very positive, we went through the history of the club, things that are going well, and things that we can improve on. We want to make Bower Fold a more enjoyable place to come, and the aim is to try and create a party atmosphere. We want to try and make it all about a family day out rather than just focusing on the 90 minutes of football.”
