Stalybridge Celtic announce new book

Stalybridge Celtic have announced the launch of a fantastic new book- Bower Bulletin: A Lifetime with Stalybridge Celtic FC, celebrating the personal memorabilia of former supporter, club volunteer, commissionaire and local journalist, the late Eric Dyson.

With over 120 nostalgic pages of Celtic history, collected by Eric over nine decades of watching his beloved club at Bower Fold, the entertaining and fascinating picture book promises to be a big hit with not only Celtic fans but non-league fanatics in general.

The book, which goes on sale at Celtic’s home game next Saturday 30th November vs Witton Albion, has been methodically and painstakingly compiled by Eric’s son David and grandson Scott and will be available for just £15 per copy with all proceeds being donated by the Dyson family towards Celtic’s junior, academy and women’s teams. One of the Club’s sponsors HCS Heating Controls and Spares has also kindly sponsored the book’s publication.

Celtic Chairman Nigel Jones said: “I warmly congratulate David and Scott on their initiative in pulling together the vast amount of information and history in this book. Not only is the result a wonderful tribute to Eric Dyson’s work and undoubted love for his football club, but I am sure that it will be of great interest to both Celtic followers and the wider non-league football community too.”

The book is a hive of historical information including photographs dating back as far as the 1940s, match reports, newspaper cuttings, matchday programme covers and league tables; and covering such notable events in Celtic’s history as the 1953 Cheshire Senior Cup Final victory, the 1990s GM Vauxhall Conference years, the 1999 FA Cup run, the 2000-01 treble-winning season, the five appearances that future England international Dominic Calvert-Lewin played for Celtic in 2014/15 and a selection of cup ties, finals and play-off matches over the last 20 years or so.

Celtic Commercial Director Steve Dewsnip added: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with David and Scott to get this book published. They have had great help and support from many at the Club, including significant contributions to content by both David Pover and Michael Brierley, plus valuable reviews, feedback and support from Taran Dhamrait, Debbie Taylor and Jill Jones, and we have all been eagerly anticipating this moment for several months. We are sure this will make a great present for many Celtic fans this Christmas.”

Bower Bulletin: A Lifetime with Stalybridge Celtic FC will be available to buy for £15 on Saturday 30 November at Celtic's home game against Witton Albion in Grays Now, the Celtic Social Hospitality Lounge and from the Club Shop.
