Stadium spruce-up

NPL West: Marine 2-1 Glossop North End

Glossop North End were left frustrated once again on Tuesday night after falling to a 2-1 defeat at Marine in the NPL West Division.

The Hillmen, who have now lost three on the bounce, took the lead in the fourth minute through Khius Metz but found themselves 2-1 behind by the half-time break.

Stuart Mellish’s side were unable to force their way back into the clash and returned to Derbyshire empty-handed, which leaves them 14th in the table having won one, drawn two and lost four.

The Hillmen will be hoping to put things right this weekend when they return to the Amdec Forklift Stadium and host 16th place Widnes.

The stadium is currently undergoing something of a makeover with the Surrey Street Stand in the process of being extended to lengthen the terracing area and roof.

The building work is being carried out with the aim of making the stadium more hospitable to supporters as the nights draw in and the weather takes a turn for the worse over the coming months.

In other news, Glossop’s youngsters made a statement of intent in their opening North West Youth Alliance fixture against Skelmersdale United, cruising to a resounding 6-1 win.
