Robins swoop in for Eastham

Ashton United have made their first signing of the summer, landing talented shot-stopper Jordan Eastham - who spent last season on loan with The Robins - on a permanent deal.

The statement signing sees the 23-year-old return to Hurst Cross following his release from Blackburn Rovers back in May.

Eastham made 30 appearances for Steve Cunningham’s side last season before an injury ruled him out of action, with younger brother Connor deputising for the remainder of the campaign.

Stellar performances throughout 24/25 saw the former Hyde United man earn a place in the NPL Premier Team of the Season, as he established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the division.

Following Eastham’s signing, Robins boss Steve Cunningham told the Reporter:

“We’re absolutely delighted to sign Jordan permanently after last season’s successful loan spell.

“The goalkeeper position was our priority this summer - the plan next season is to challenge for the title, and the number one spot was always going to be crucial to that.

“He knows the group, fits in well personality wise, and his distribution is key to how we want to play.

“He’s one of best keepers in North West, and we’re delighted to have been able to capture his services.”
