Ashton United have confirmed the signing of former Hyde United midfielder Callum Spooner, who joins on loan from Bury until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old - who made over 100 appearances across two spells at Ewen Fields - makes the switch to Hurst Cross after failing to feature in any of new boss Anthony Johnson’s first four games in charge.
Spooner moves in the opposite direction to winger Luca Navarro, who became Johnson’s first Shakers signing last month.
The former Stalybridge Celtic man made his Robins debut in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Morpeth Town.
Following Spooner’s signing, Robins boss Steve Cunningham told the Reporter:
“We’re delighted to bring in a quality player that’s proven at our level and comes with a reputation for being a quality player as well as being a great character.
“That’s important at this stage as we plan for the remainder of the season and into next season.”
