Pre-Season Football Friendlies

A number of our non-league sides are competing in pre-season friendlies this evening.

Stalybridge Celtic, under new manager Chris Wilcock, face Morecambe of Sky Bet League One. Wilcock, who took the reigns following Simon Haworth's resignation in May, has been taking part in the club's groundforce days alongside supporters, to give Bower Fold a new lease of life ahead of the new season. In terms of signings, versatile defender Ciaran Summers joins from Hyde United, along with striker Godwin Abadaki and his brother Osebi, a forward who most recently played for Matlock Town.

Meanwhile, Ashton United host League Two Barrow at Hurst Cross. The Bluebirds recently appointed former Oldham Athletic and Halifax Town boss Peter Wild as their new man to take the club forward. Ashton boss Michael Clegg, who guided his side to a 14th place finish in the NPL Premier Division last season, has made a number of new signings to bolster his squad. Callum Saunders, a striker, has joined from Witton Albion, whilst midfielder Max Harrop has joined from National League outfit Altrincham. Defender Matt Regan has also joined the Robins. It's his second spell at the club, having made 43 appearances during the 2018/19 season.
