Mossley hoping to bounce back from Saturday's defeat

Mossley will be hoping to bounce back from Saturday's 4-0 defeat against Tadcaster Albion when Pontefract Collieries visit Seel Park this evening.

The Lilywhites were left to question a number of issues after Saturday's drubbing on home soil and will be hoping to put things right with a much-improved performance and victory tonight. 

Although Dave Wilde's side have enjoyed a fairly decent start to the season - minus an FA Cup defeat to Widnes at the beginning of September - there have been some questionable departures from the club in the past week.

Adam Jones, who was regarded as a rock in the heart of defence last season, left the club to join New Mills, while last season's top goalscorer Max Leonard was bizarrely transfer listed and has since joined Golcar United of the North West Counties First Division North. Meanwhile, club legend Mike Fish has also left. 

While questions will rightly be asked concerning the departures, fans should still feel encouraged about the current squad and will be optimistic about the Lilywhites' chances this season. A player who could play a key part in that success is former Liverpool striker Adam Morgan, who has netted five times since his arrival at the end of July. Morgan has linked up for a second time with assistant-manager John Flanagan; the pair having worked together during Flanagan's reign at Curzon Ashton in 2016.

The Lilywhites' faithful will be hoping Morgan can continue his fine form and add to his tally this evening - although it will be no easy task against a Pontefract side which has shipped just four goals in their opening five games. The visitors are seventh in the table after three wins, one draw and one defeat. Tonight's game is the second time in the space of three days that the visitors have travelled to Tameside following Saturday's 1-0 defeat in the FA Cup at Ashton United.
