The 11th edition of the annual Mossley 10k saw some familiar faces prevail.

Over 450 runners tackled the iconic route, which starts and ends at Seel Park, the home of Mossley AFC.

In the women’s section, East Cheshire Harriers’ Hayley Simpson picked up her fourth win with a time of 42:23.

She was closely followed by teammate Katie Kay who finished in 42:46, with Kate Foster’s time of 42:52 enough for third place.

In the men’s, Oldham & Royton Harriers’ Michael Mannings was the overall winner, picking up a maiden victory with a time of 33:38.

Daniel Orr finished in 2nd with a time of 33:53, closely followed by another East Cheshire Harrier in Steven Broadbent, whose time of 35:04 was enough for third.

Elsewhere, in the men’s V60 category, Royton Road Runners’ Barry Greaves was first over the line, while teammate James Henderson was victorious in the V45 category.

Finally, Tim Shanker, of Manchester YMCA Harriers, picked up the win in the V55 section.

In the women’s V60, there was another win for a Royton Road Runner in the form of Gail Shaw, while in the V55 section, Emma Bowen of Team TriGuru raced to victory.

Completing the list of winners was yet another East Cheshire Harrier, Karen Fleming, who was first over the line in the V45 category.

Among those running on the day was Mossley AFC manager Alex Craddock.

Craddock was joined at the event by Mossley players Obua Mugalula and Gee Baltazar, who both kindly volunteered to help out.
