Match Report: Stockport Georgians 3-1 Droylsden FC

It was another unfortunate result for Droylsden at the weekend as they were beaten 3-1 away to Stockport Georgians.

The two sides had already played out a 2-2 draw in pre-season but on this occasion, it was the home side who came out on top with a good performance to match.

Georgians took the lead after just six minutes, Sam Hind heading home from a corner kick. They then doubled their lead from the penalty spot after a foul from Daniel Burgess.

Things didn’t improve after the break as Georgians made it 3-0 with Hind grabbing his second of the game. And from there the game was out of reach for the Bloods.

Droylsden showed heart to keep going and pulled one back through Faud Kasali. He showed great skill to beat two Stockport defenders before finding the back of the net. And Dave Pace’s side was close to getting a second with AJ Warburton’s effort going just wide.

Another goal could have made it a very interesting end to the game, but the home side held strong and claimed all three points. And although it’s successive defeats in the league, it’s by no means a crisis situation, as performances have continued to be positive for Droylsden.

They next take on Retford FC in the second qualifying round of the Isuzu FA Vase.
