Match Report: Morpeth Town 5-1 Hyde United

An inform Hyde United faced an up and down Morpeth Town on Saturday at Craik Park up in the North East as they looked to make it 12 without loss.

They went about it in the right way, starting the better team and looking far the more dangerous of the two sides.

Midway through the first half, Matt Fernley stole the ball from Ryan Wombwell on the edge of the Morpeth box to find himself one on one with
Dan Lawson. Fearnley calmly rolled the ball round the Morpeth keeper and tapped into an empty net.

Eight minutes later Lewis Alessandra was played through, his first shotwas stopped well by Lawson with his face and then the follow up by
Alessandra was blocked on the line.

40 minutes into the game a beautiful over the top ball by Callum Spooner found right back Harry Ditchfield who did well to keep his marker off
him and smash the ball under Lawson to put The Tigers two up.

Right on half time Fearnley was played through the middle and from there it was a mirror’s image of his first goal as he rolled the ball round
Lawson and tapped home to put Hyde three up at the break.

Four minutes into the second period Fearnley got his hat trick as his curling effort found the net to put the game well beyond Morpeth and to
send the three points back to Tameside.

Just ten minutes later Morpeth were awarded a penalty that Sam Hodgson tucked past Jordan Eastham to get one back for the hosts.

The next half an hour was contested between two teams that clearly knew what the result was going to be, Hyde had some good moves in which the final product just wasn’t there and Morpeth tried to make it interesting but just had nothing of danger to Hyde going forward.

And in the last minute the game was sealed through a Harry Bunn penalty that was won by Manasse Mampala as he cut in from the left hand side.
Bunn smashed the ball to the keepers right who although went the correct way couldn’t get anywhere near it.
