Match Report: Hyde United 1-3 Hebburn Town

Hyde United’s struggles continued as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Hebburn Town on Tuesday night.

The loss means that the Tigers are now six games without a win, with their last triumph coming almost a month ago against FC United of Manchester.

Despite the heavy rain, both teams seemed determined to produce a great performance, which was visible from the first whistle.

Hyde United had the first big chance of the game in the 12th minute, but Thompson’s effort was not good enough to find the back of the net.

The trend continued with Hyde creating a few more chances on goal but failing to get on the scoresheet.

With the game going 0-0 at halftime, Hyde was expected to go all out in the second half and grab the win.

They did well to start - scoring in the 52nd minute through Drew Baker who finished brilliantly to give the home fans something to cheer about on a rainy night.

Things seemed to slip away from the Tigers from thereon as Hebburn came from behind and scored three goals in the last 24 minutes to steal the win on the night.

Coach Nick Spooner said: “It’s getting boring now, we can’t keep defending them. When you’re young it’s okay, we’ve knocked it about.

“I called it academy football with no penetration.”

Spooner stated that the 3-2 collapse to FC United of Manchester was tough for the side, and his team still has not recovered from that loss.

“If you look at them goals, poor, poor goals. No proper communication, no characters, I just said to them, If they are not careful some of these lads will not play football in two years time,” said Spooner.

Hyde United will next play Congletown FC in the FA Trophy on October 5.
