Match Report: Hanley Town 0-2 Mossley AFC

Mossley finally got back to winning ways on Saturday (28 October) after five straight losses in all competitions, with a 2-0 win away to Hanley Town.

It was the visitors who created the first opportunity, with Dani Miranda cutting inside and firing the ball goalwards, forcing an excellent save from the Hanley goalkeeper.

The Lilywhites then began to dominate, creating a number of chances but they were unable to capitalise, and went into half-time with the score level at 0-0.

Hosts Hanley had an opportunity of their own early in the second half, with Oumar Camara producing a wonderful goal-line clearance to prevent the home side from taking the lead.

Mossley took control again mid-way through the half and forced the Hanley keeper into a couple of quick-fire saves, with the man between the sticks first denying Dani Miranda, before another great save prevented Jack Banister from opening the scoring.

Despite the goalkeeper's best efforts, Mossley managed to finally break the deadlock five minutes from time when captain Kane Hickman turned in a cross from Jack Banister, flicking the ball over the keeper and into the net.

A late surge of pressure from the home side made for a nervy end, with goalkeeper Chris Thompson being called into action moments before the end, but he was up to the task and kept the ball out.

The travelling Mossley fans could finally breathe when substitute Joe Richards doubled their lead in added time, rifling the ball home from close range and sealing the win for his side.

A crucial three points for The Lilywhites, who will take great confidence from the victory, after what has been a tough few weeks for them to say the very least.

The win lifts David Fish’s men up to 8^th in the Northern Premier League West table, ahead of their away trip to Vauxhall Motors on Saturday (4 November).
