Match Report: Glossop RUFC 10-24 Trafford MV

Glossop had high hopes of clawing some points back against the team above them, going into this bottom of the table clash.

They received an early setback though as backrow Chabas was harshly sin binned for coming in at the side. 

Trafford scored the opening try shortly after, when a long hoof downfield, which seemed well covered by the home defence, bounced kindly into the welcome arms of the following MV midfielder. This saw the visitors lead 5-0.

This sequence of events seemed to repeat itself sometime later, as with Glossop prop Connor Grime off the pitch for a yellow card, Trafford put in a delicate chip and chase which saw them go into the break with a 12-0 lead.  

After the break, the Hillmen started brightly but a wayward kick saw the visitors counter attack and gain their third try for a 17-0 lead. 

Midway through the second half, MV got their fourth and bonus point try for a 24-0 lead. 

Glossop rallied late on though, with a try from the hardworking Rob Sonczak to reduce the lead to 5-24. Trafford then received a yellow card of their own and Glossop capitalised with a try from Damien Chabas near the end following a bustling run from the belligerent Grime, to see a final score of 10-24. 

The highlights from Glossop were some dazzling running and sidestepping by young wing Finn Winterbottom and a decent scrum and lineout. 

However the Glossop coaches have plenty to work on if there are to salvage anything from this disapointing season.
