Match Report: Glossop North End 3-3 Litherland REMYCA

Glossop North End scored late on to secure a 3-3 draw at home to Litherland REMYCA, edging them further away from relegation on Saturday (December 30).

Tom Lawless’ goal ensured the Hillmen gained a point following a brace from Jacques Etia.

Litherland will be disappointed that they couldn’t hold out for a precious win that would have moved them into the top 10 of the division.

The visitors started brighter with a couple of early chances but failed to really challenge Charlie Goodwin in the Glossop goal.

Etia soon began to exercise his influence on the game, winning a number of free-kicks off Litherland before moments later opening the scoring in the 30th minute.

Glossop were unable to enter the break in front as Robert Grant’s equaliser for the visitors made it 1-1 on the stroke of half-time.

Litherland seized the initiative quickly in the second half, as it only took them three minutes to score after the resumption of play.

Goodwin was hapless to deny the away side doubling their lead in the 73rd minute as the goalkeeper was expertly chipped from 30 yards out.

However, the Hillmen responded immediately as Etia got his second of the game and 16th of the season as his effort made it 3-2 in the 74th minute.

Tom Lawless’s well-placed finish from an Emmanuel Ujahchuku cross sealed the comeback and draw for the Hillmen as the side continued their recent upturn in form.

Next up for Richard Brodie’s men is an away trip to Chadderton on Saturday (December 6).
