Match Report: Droylsden v Shelley

Butchers Arms Ground, Droylsden FC

Droylsden made it through to the next round of the Edward Case Cup on Tuesday (September 12) after a 3-0 win over Shelley.

The Bloods bounced back after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Barnton over the weekend and made a perfect start in this one, taking the lead after just ten minutes when the in-form George West turned in a pinpoint cross from Kasali.

Droylsden doubled their lead on the half-hour mark when Chris Rodgers rose the highest and headed in a corner from Toby Green.

Hearts were in mouths moments before half-time when visitors Shelley were awarded a penalty, but it was panic over when the opposition striker rattled the bar from the spot, with the ball deflecting off the upright onto goalkeeper Piper and going out for a corner.

The Bloods started the second half as they began the first, adding a third goal on the hour mark when Joe Keyworth headed home from a corner.

An emphatic win for Dave Pace’s men, which takes them through to the first round of the Edward Case Cup.

Next up for Droylsden in the league is an away trip to Stockport Georgians on Saturday.
