Match Report: Droylsden FC 2-1 Winsford United

Droylsden picked up a huge win against Winsford United on Saturday, once again scoring in stoppage time.

It’s the Blood's first league win since the 5th of September, which also came against Winsford.

The visitors took the lead just after five minutes through Ezeikel Eme, his shot bobbling underneath the keeper. And they held on to half-time, a couple of half chances for Droylsden but the home side struggled to keep a hold of the ball in difficult playing conditions.

The Bloods came out strong after the break, Jnai Butterfield-Steede grabbing his first goal for the club. He finished with a well-taken volley following a looping cross to the back post, a real moment of quality just as it was needed.

Droylsden continued to pile the pressure, Droylsden’s top scorer George West forced a brilliant save from Winsford’s keeper after some slick football from Faud Kasali and Nelson Van.

And just as it looked as though the points would be shared, it was Rio Pemberton who popped up to snatch a late winner. He latched onto Ben Lowe’s defence-splitting pass, taking a touch before slotting away in the bottom left corner. It was also his first goal for the club.

A vital three points for Droylsden as they look to move even further away from the relegation zone. Another resilient performance from Dave Pace’s side who continue to show they don’t know when they’re beaten.
