Glossop’s poor start to the season continued on the road at Bolton, as they conceded a try coming off an early scrum and were soon 7-0 down.
The Hillmen were then guilty of poor discipline which saw them concede three penalties and fall behind 16-0.
At this stage in the game it was all Bolton and two good tries for their right winger, both converted, gave them a 30-0 lead.
After the break, Glossop rallied briefly and former skipper Josh Edwards got himself on the score sheet, which Tom Dearnaley converted to reduce the deficit to 30-7.
Glossop’s current captain, Zak Round then came alive and put in some powerful, metre gaining runs but could not find the support the runs deserved.
Glossop were then unlucky as both props, Grime and Cooper were forced off with injuries.
The makeshift pack battled on manfully but conceded two further tries, one converted to see Bolton extend their lead to 42-7.
Glossop got the last try of the match though as versatile back, Billy Whiston dotted down in the corner to see Glossop head home with a 42-12 defeat.
A quirk of the fixture list and a couple of postponed games have seen Glossop play only one game at home this season with three months gone.
With a run of home games after Christmas, they will surely be hoping for a more prosperous 2026.
Glossop’s next fixture is at home on January 3rd against league leaders Southport.
