Local running legend Ron has race named in his honour

Local marathon legend Dr Ron Hill MBE is set to be honoured with a race named in his honour.

Horwich RMI Harriers and AC have organised the Ron Hill Memorial Rivington Pike Fell Race for Saturday, September 11.

Ron, who died in May aged 82, competed in the same race 40 times and took the honours on three occasions.

A commemorative programme has been produced and will be given to all entrants.
