Footballing legend Les Sutton has been honoured at a celebration evening at Hyde United Social Club.
Described by many as one of the club’s greatest managers Les was in charge of the Ewen Fields club from 1972 to 1974 returning for a second spell in 1978, staying until 1983.
It included one of the Tigers most successful times in the club’s long history with United winning Cheshire League titles and county cups and winning promotion to the Northern Premier League where successes contained.
The celebration night a few weeks ago was to mark Les’ 90th birthday and his contribution to Hyde United.
The social club was packed with supporters keen to congratulate Les and some of the players who had shared the glory days.
Inspirational captain Tony Steenson, goalkeeper Colin Darcy and flying winger George Oghani who were joined by director Steve Hartley.
All there to remember halcyon days and the man who played a vital role in securing them.
