Local dance team need your help to fundraise

A local dance studio is appealing to the public to help them win a cash prize and offer dance to underprivileged children.

Coach, Miah Maddock, has dedicated her life to supporting others, organising toy donations every Christmas and now sharing her passion of dance with the community.

Opening her own studios, MCR Dance Academy, in July, Miah runs group sessions, private lessons and a welcoming space for so many.

But she does this without taking any profit for herself, spending so much of her own money on equipment.

Her team has been listed as a finalist in the Cash for Kids Sports Challenge Fundraiser, meaning they have been tasked with raising as much money as possible before October 24.

The winning company, that raises the most money, will receive an extra £5,000 donation, money that would be monumental for Miah.

“If we were to win, it would make such a difference and mean so much to everyone.

“If I can help other people, then my day is made. This money would help me to offer scholarships for underprivileged children, allowing them to have dance lessons for free,” Miah said.

Working in schools across the local area, Miah sees first hand just how many talented children there are. Yet, with financial turmoil hitting homes, these children are unable to afford lessons.

As a community interest company, Miah has applied for several grants, but keeps facing the same disappointing rejections.

So, when Cash for Kids presented itself, she thought it was a fantastic way to try and boost funds within the team.

To fundraise, MCR Dance Academy will be holding events throughout October. These include fancy dress parties, dance-a-thons and leg waxing for dancer’s dads and boyfriends

Opening her own studios earlier this year, Miah has had an amazing few months.

“Now that I’m no longer renting I can offer so much more and it really does feel like a second home to me and my dancers.”

Constantly going above and beyond, Miah is currently hosting a silent collection, giving back to an exceptional young person in dance.

Now, MCR Dance needs your help to raise as much money as possible. This money will be injected back into the local community and offer the freedom of dance to so many young people.

You can donate via this link before October 24 to help them on their journey.

Any donations made after this date can be made via BACS: MCR HQ CIC 37339907 60-20-21, PayPal (mcr@danceacademy@gmail.com) or cash donations 07849208254.
