Jones is New Mills' September star man

An impressive first month at New Mills AFC has earned Adam Jones the club's Player of the Month award for September.

The defender, who is also the new Millers captain, collected 47 per cent of votes in the club's poll conducted on Twitter - finishing ahead of team-mates Ed Driver, Will Ozono and Alex Fowell.

The former Mossley centre-back arrived at Church Lane earlier in the month, making his debut against Cheadle Heath Nomads.

Jones went on to collect the Man of the Match award in three of his four appearances during the month.

The club said in a statement: "Everyone at the club is delighted with Adam’s contribution so far and his influence stretches beyond the pitch as he sets an example for all the players at the club to follow. Well done to Adam and we hope to see more of the same as the season continues."
