It's all going to plan for Denton CC in the Stalybridge Snooker League

The Stalybridge Snooker League is now into its sixth week, and it's looking good for Denton CC who top the Snooker League and find themselves joint-top with Mossley B in the Whist League.

League secretary Ian Hopton provided the following update:

Week 3 matches saw St Peters play Staly Vegas, Mossley B play Staly Labour and Denton CC play Hyde Club. In the Snooker League, Staly Labour won 3-2 but there were 4-1 wins for  St Peters and Denton CC. In the Whist League there was only one match and Denton CC narrowly beat Hyde Club.

Week 4 saw Staly labour entertain St Peters, Hyde Club play Mossley B, and Staly Vegas play Denton CC. In the Snooker League there were 3-2 wins for St Peters and Mossley B. There was also a 4-1 win for Denton CC, which left St Peters and Denton CC at the top of the league on 14 points each. In the whist league there were wins for Denton CC and Mossley B.

Week 5 saw St Peters visit Mossley B, Hyde Club travel to Staly Vegas and Staly Labour play Denton CC. In the snooker there was a 4-1 win for Staly Vegas as well as 3-2 wins for Mossley B and Denton CC. This leaves Denton as league leaders at the end of the first quarter with 17 points. In the Whist League there were wins for Mossley B and Staly Vegas and this leaves Denton CC as league leaders on eight points.

After the first five matches the quarterly management meeting met to review 18 handicaps that need to be reviewed. The league also set out how the season will now evolve. The new handicaps applied to week six when St Peters entertained Denton CC, Staly labour played Hyde Club and Staly vegas played Mossley B. In the snooker, there was a 4-1 win for Staly Vegas and 3-2 wins for Hyde Club and Denton. In the whist there were victories for St Peters and Mossley B. Denton lead the snooker two points ahead of St Peters, and in the whist Mossley B and Denton are joint leaders with 10 points

It is very good to be back again and it has been welcomed by all the clubs involved. The league is competitive, whilst giving the players the opportunity to socialise every Thursday. The league has a lot of long-serving members and some new players have joined this year, but we are always looking for new players to join us. We play snooker, billiards and whist every Thursday evening  and if you would like to join us, you can contact  the league secretary on 07736678303 or contact him by email at ian.stalybridgesnooker@outlook.com.
