Hyde United progress to next round of FA Cup

Project Solar Stadium, Hyde United

Hyde United made it through to the next round of the FA Cup last Saturday, with a 2-1 win away to Clitheroe.

The Tigers went into the match after a derby day defeat to Ashton United less than a week earlier and were keen to turn around their fortunes in this one.

Nick Spooner's men took the lead after just 17 minutes through Callum Spooner, who latched onto a clipped through ball from Harry Ditchfield and slotted the ball home.

Hyde doubled their lead on the stroke of half time when Lewis Alessandra laid the ball off to new signing Antoine Makoli who found the bottom corner.

The Tigers managed to survive a second half fightback from the home side and a 95th minute consolation goal was too little too late, with the match finishing 2-1 to Nick Spooner's men.

This win takes Hyde through to the second qualifying round of the competition and they will host Albion Sports on 16 September.
