Hyde on losing side in the battle of The Tigers

Hyde United were on the losing side in Saturday’s battle of The Tigers, with hosts Worksop Town picking up a 3-1 victory.

After a goalless first half, the hosts took the lead just after the hour mark thanks to Liam Hughes’ superb dipping volley.

Visitors Hyde hit back twelve minutes from time with full-back Harry Ditchfield finding the net from close range to draw his side level.

The parity would only last a matter of minutes as Worksop then regained the lead through Aaron Martin, who capitalised on an error from Hyde stopper Callum Hiddleston and headed into an empty net.

Hughes then doubled the home side’s lead three minutes from time, powering a header past Hiddleston and ensuring the points would be staying in Nottingham.

Following the defeat, Hyde boss Nick Spooner told the club’s YouTube channel that the loss was ’very harsh’ on his side:

“We’re a young side and we’re learning the hard way.

“I thought the performance was excellent, and the way we came back from being 1-0 down was outstanding.

“The players have sone everything that was asked of them, but unfortunately, two mistakes have cost us.”

The Tigers welcome Prescot Cables to the Project Solar Stadium this Saturday, for Non-League Day.
