Hyde hit twelve in opening friendly

Pre-Season Friendly: Hyde United 12-0 St Martins

Hyde United opened their pre-season campaign with an emphatic 12-0 victory against St Martins at Ewen Fields last Thursday (8th).

Despite the three division gap between the sides - St Martins compete in the North West Counties First Division South - the Tigers ran riot and showed their class from the very first whistle. Hyde took an early lead from the penalty spot through Liam Hardy, before adding a second shortly after, once again through Hardy from the penalty spot.

Hardy, an experienced player and proven goal scorer at this level with the likes of Grantham Town, Harrogate Town, Harrogate Railway, Darlington and Buxton, completed his hat-trick in the 11th minute after rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home.

In the 15th minute, fans' favourite Tom Pratt, who has established himself as a prolific goal scorer since signing from Trafford in 2017, made it 4-0, before Tom Morris made it 5-0 after converting a rebound off the post.

Hardy then notched his fourth of the evening to give the hosts a 6-0 advantage by the half-time whistle.

Hyde boss Dave McGurk made a number of changes for the second-half, with Beckford making it 7-0, Liam Tongue adding an eighth, and a triallist bagging a ninth.

Hyde's final three goals came courtesy of Tony Donaldson, and a brace from a trialist, who took his tally to three for the evening.

Following the game, McGurk spoke to Hyde's media team about the result.
