Hyde cruise past Neston to stay top of Cheshire League

Hyde maintained their 11-point lead at the top of the Cheshire County Cricket League with a crushing home victory over relegation threatened Neston.

Tom Partridge rattled off 22 boundaries from 102 balls, including 9 sixes, in a 166-run opening partnership with Luke Young.

Both eventually fell to the bowling of Harley Pritchard, but not before they’d made 137 and 54 runs, respectively.

Pritchard took the next two Hyde wickets for 4-69, but couldn’t prevent the home side from dashing to a towering score of 332-6 from 49 overs.

In reply, the visitors from the Wirral were at the mercy of Andrew Jackson’s bowling, whose spell of three wickets for one run decimated their middle order.

He finished with 5-42, with Rohit Acharya, Luke Young and captain Daniel Cranmer mopping up the remaining wickets, skittling Neston for just 92 runs.

Elsewhere, Hyde’s closest rivals Nantwich won by four wickets at Bowdon, while third-placed Didsbury also picked up 20 points on the road with a five-wicket win at Widnes.

Hyde travel to Timperley next Saturday, with Nantwich hosting fourth-placed Chester Broughton Hall.
