Hyde come from behind to earn massive victory in fight against the drop

NPL Premier Division: Hyde United 2-1 Warrington Town

Hyde United fought from behind against Warrington Town and claimed their first victory 10 league outings to boost their hopes of avoiding relegation.

In the first game since manager Jim Gannon was relieved of his duties earlier in the week, interim-boss Martin Coyne took charge of the Tigers and must have feared the worst when his side fell behind in the 15th minute when Stefan Mols tucked the ball beyond Joe Green.

The Ewen Fields outfit looked destined for defeat, however Coyne's side staged a late comeback and drew matters level in the 81st minute when a one-two between Tom Pratt and Harry Ditchfield ended with the latter slotting past the Yellows' goalkeeper.

The hosts applied the pressure and went looking for the winner in the dying minutes, and their efforts were rewarded in the 89th minute when Lewis Earl headed home from a corner to secure an unlikely three points against a Warrington side who are heading for the playoffs this season.

The result leaves the Tigers 19th in the table on 32 points, ahead of a round of fixtures on Tuesday night which they aren't a part of.

Following the game, interim-boss Coyne spoke to Hyde's media team and said:

In related news, Bradley Roscoe has committed to the Tigers until the end of the 2022/2023 season.

Brad has been with Hyde since the 2019 season having signed from Buxton, and now has the opportunity to add to his 68 appearances and eight goals.
