High Peak football clubs receive financial boost

This month three local football clubs in the High Peak have been awarded funding as part of the Premier League's Matchday Support Fund.

The clubs which have received funding are:

  • New Mills FC - £2,000
  • Buxton FC - £10,000
  • Glossop North End FC - £7,000

The Football Foundation launched the new £6.25m Matchday Support Fund for teams that play within the National League System, the FA Women's Pyramid, and the Welsh Premier League.

It will support clubs affected by Covid and will provide them with financial support towards the costs of re-opening their stadia, preparing for fixtures, and welcoming supporters to their games throughout the 2020/21 season.

The Matchday Support Fund is being delivered by the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF) - the grant-giving body that provides Premier League funding to support ground improvements for clubs in the professional, women's and non-league games.

Robert Largan MP commented: “I'm pleased that these three local football clubs have been awarded funding as part of the Premier League's Matchday Support Fund. This fund is to cover the costs of adjustments that need to be made to safely allow both players and fans to return to games during the pandemic.

“This is positive news, but I know that many other local sports clubs are struggling, and I'm keen to do what I can to help. If your club needs assistance, don't hesitate to get in touch on mail@robertlargan.co.uk.”
